Tech Prep….pathways to the future
Tech Prep links academic skills with career
preparation. Students train for successful careers, which
meet the needs of businesses and industry in technically skilled
occupations. Tech Prep classes lead to an associate
degree, two-year certificate, apprenticeship training or
four-year college degree.
Tech Prep classes are not just book work,
theory and lecture. Applied learning is what Tech Prep is
all about-it’s about doing! A Tech Prep education is based
on the student’s interests and takes advantage of the way he or
she learns best. In Tech Prep, the skills learned are
developed in the work world and based upon actual skills and
knowledge that the student will need to know and do on a job.
Duplication of courses is eliminated as students move along a
seamless career pathway from high school to college. In
Solano County, articulated Tech Prep classes are offered in
Biotechnology, Criminal Justice, Fire Technology, Photography, Computer and
Information Science, Electronics/Computer Service Technology,
Drafting Technician, Early Childhood Education, Office
Technology, Business, Accounting, and Marketing.
